The Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund Presents A Celebration of Heroes Evening with United 232 Captain Al Haynes – September 10, 2016
All Gala proceeds to support the 9/11 funds established to honor the pilots of United 93 and 175 – Captain Jason M. Dahl, Captain Victor J. Saracini, First Officer LeRoy W. Homer, and First Officer Michael Horrocks.
The Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund will host a gala event from 5 to 10 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Join us in a celebration of the American spirit and a tribute to heroes in American aviation at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Ballroom in downtown Denver, Colorado. The gathering will bring together aviators past, present, and future as the Dahl Fund honors the heroes of 9/11/2001 while awarding the 2016 Jason Dahl scholarship recipients. The event promises to be a great opportunity for patriots, supporters, aviation enthusiasts, and pilots to meet and greet. Participants can catch up with old friends while making new ones. All will be able to honor the heroic efforts performed by crew members from such flights like United 93 and United 175 (9/11/2001), United 232 (Sioux City, Iowa), and United 811 (Honolulu, HI).

Captain Al Haynes will be the featured speaker. Captain Haynes was at the controls when United Flight 232, while in-flight from Denver to Chicago, lost an engine and all hydraulic flight controls, forcing an emergency crash landing in Sioux City, Iowa in 1989.
Be on hand to meet Al Haynes and hear the epic tale he has. The entire Flight 232 crew will be the Dahl Fund’s honored guests. Some of the 2016 Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship recipients will also be in attendance, and you will have the opportunity to congratulate them as well. Each year the Dahl Fund awards aviation scholarships to bright young aspiring pilots in memory of Jason Dahl. Captain Dahl was the pilot of United Flight 93 on 9/11/2001, and one of the heroes that prevented the terrorists from completing their attack on our nation’s capital that day.
Master of Ceremony
Dahl scholarship awards are determined by a 13 person board. The first award was granted to a Denver Metro student in February 2003. Since then the Dahl Fund has expanded offering scholarships nation-wide. In 2016 $32,000 in scholarships were awarded. To date almost $200,000 in aviation scholarships have been awarded to over 100 individuals from 26 different four year aviation degree school programs.
